SKY STUDIOS
When starting the German team at Sky Creative, I took on many different design responsibilities, including creating Key Art for Sky Studios in Germany.
The process involved navigating input from numerous stakeholders. For most key art projects, I was provided with access to straightforward character shoots, while for others, we collaborated closely with photographers on set to capture the desired shots.

Overview
Munich Games
Limited Series
August 2022
-
50 years after the Munich Massacre, Munich is hosting a soccer game between an Israeli and a German football club. When things start to fall apart, it seems history might be repeating all over again.
-
The series creator, Michal Aviram, envisioned Key Art inspired by the show's opening credits. It combines glitch-style frames, shots of the main actors, a cold color palette, and textured overlays to reflect the show's tension, mystery, and emotional depth.
Babylon Berlin
Series 4
September 2022
-
Season 4 of Babylon Berlin is set in Berlin in 1930, during the rise of fascism and the Nazi party. The season follows the characters as they navigate the political and social turmoil of the time, including the growing divide between the wealthy and the poor.
-
The design contrasts the vibrant dance parties of 1930s Berlin with the looming rise of fascism, represented by a red banner dividing the main characters. This division highlights the growing ideological and emotional fractures as both the city and the characters descend from decadence into turmoil.

Main brief
Der Pass III
This highly acclaimed show, now in its third instalment, is among Germany's top viewed series.
-
Two detectives, Ellie and Gedeon, are tasked with investigating a dead body in the Alps. As they dig deeper, they uncover shocking clues connected to pagan rituals and local customs.
-
Having been offered a pre release screening of the series, I became very familiar with the visual language of the 3rd instalment of the show. This series had a much darker filming style than the previous series, which was essential to reflect in the design itself.
The killer in this series, spends the first few episodes of the series stalking the detectives, as they investigate a series of murders in the Alpine forests along the German / Austrian border. Hence the appearance of a shadowy figure on the left of the composition. He’s almost impossible to see.
After the events of the 2nd series, both of the detectives have lost trust in one and other, this was also essential to portray.
There are many sequences of the stalking killer photographing and developing film of his victims and the detectives, hence the photographic themes seen in the work in progress examples.
-
Collaborating with the show's directors, producers, and main actors Nicholas Ofczarek and Julia Jentsch, was a fantastic challenge. Building on the legacy of two prior seasons, this key art had to align with the existing aesthetic while also brining something fresh to the table.
-
We worked worked closely with Sky Studios internal photographers to get the requested images for the talent. Being able to work with the photographer allowed us to get the perfect character expressions and positioning required for the key art.
